For as long as I can remember I wanted a home with a fireplace.
After several homes and several fireplaces, the English cottage we recently purchased in St Louis holds the perfect one. Stone, dark timber and gas logs. We simply haven’t had it repaired. Oh, well…it looks great without flames.
Without a Christmas tree in the living room, I made a big ass wreath.
The fireplace called for one large wreath. I’m talking BIG. One to make it the focal point of the formal living room. May you have the same non-purpose room? Used three times a year with no TV or couch comfy enough to nap on?
Starting with the largest, least expensive, generic evergreen wreath from the closest craft store I started building.
Because the wreath is large, heavy and awkward to carry from the second-floor studio into the living room I did half the decorating once it was hung.
The assistant. One helpful hubby!
Ta-Da!! The finished, perfect decoration for the rustic cottage room.
When you have no tree think of displaying a large wreath. Guests will focus on the wreath—make it oversized and full of ornaments, ribbon, pine cones, sparkle, anything that is your style. Guests will never notice you were: a) too tired, b)too broke, c) too stressed or d) too out of time to put up a tree. Really!!!!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
